Macleodganj is also known as "Little Lahasa" because of the presence of huge Tibetan population in this area. The residence of His Highness The Dalai Lama is in Macleodganj. The Dalai Lama shifted his base to Dharamshala when the chinese occupied Tibet. Macleodganj is hence the headquarters of the Tibetan government in exile.

Macleodganj is located in Upper Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. The place is beautiful and is surrounded by lush green flaura and fauna along with Deodar and Pine trees. How to Reach Macleodganj Dharamshala

Macleodganj is well connected by road and air to all the parts of the country.

By Road: Number of buses ply from all the major towns of Himachal, Punjab, Jammu, Haryana and Delhi to Dharamshala and Macleodganj.

From Delhi itself there are around 10 buses plying daily to Dharamshala and Macleodganj. Around 20 buses run between Chandigarh and Dharamshala daily. The roads are also very good and a drive to Macleodganj is also a delightful experience. Apart from HRTC Himachal Roadways private operators also offers daily services from Delhi to Dharamshala Mcleodganj.

By Air Flights from Delhi are available daily to Gaggal Airport Dharamshala. It is around 15 Kms from the Airport.

By Train
Pathankot is the nearest broad gauge Railway station about 85 Kms from Dharamshala. Toy trains also run from Pathankot to Jogindernagar via Kangra Chamunda Devi. Kangra Railway station is about 20 Kms and Chamunda mandir Railway Station is 22 kms from Dharamshala
